Welcome to Imphal, the charming capital of Manipur, known for its heritage, lush greenery, and rich cultural traditions.
Manipur’s most historically significant landmarks and a former seat of the Manipur kingdom. Discover its ancient ruins, sacred sites and cultural importance as you learn about the region’s royal history. Continue to Shri Govindaji Temple, an important Hindu place of worship known for its elegant architecture and spiritual atmosphere. Later, visit Ima Keithel (Mother’s Market), a unique traditional marketplace run entirely by women. Browse through its colourful stalls offering local handicrafts, textiles, traditional clothing, fresh produce and regional specialities while experiencing the everyday life and vibrant culture of Manipur. After a memorable day exploring Imphal’s history, spirituality and local traditions, return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, proceed to Loktak Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and unique floating masses of vegetation known as phumdis.
About Loktak Lake:
For any visitor, the principal attraction of the state is the Loktak Lake in Bishnupur District which is 48kms from Imphal City and it is the largest fresh water lake in the North–East India. It is a beautiful stretch of water resembling a miniature inland sea. A day spent at Loktak Lake is a lifetime of memory. Visitors can catch a bird’s eye view of the lake from Sendra. Fishermen living in floating islands called Phumdis in floating huts known as Phumsangs are unique sights of this lake. The Sendra Tourist Home with an attached Cafeteria is a sought after tourist spot. Boating and other water sports are organised here at Takmu Water Sports Complex.
Enjoy a scenic boat ride across the tranquil waters, admiring the picturesque surroundings, traditional fishing huts and charming floating landscapes that make the lake one of Manipur’s most remarkable natural attractions. Continue to Keibul Lamjao National Park, the world’s only floating national park, situated on the southern part of Loktak Lake. This ecologically unique sanctuary is home to the endangered Sangai deer, also known as the dancing deer of Manipur, which is an important symbol of the state’s natural heritage. Explore the park’s distinctive wetland ecosystem and enjoy opportunities to observe its rich biodiversity and scenic beauty. After a memorable day surrounded by Manipur’s remarkable landscapes and wildlife, return to Imphal for an overnight stay at your hotel.
After breakfast, embark on a scenic day trip to Andro Village, a charming traditional settlement located near Imphal, renowned for its rich cultural heritage, traditional pottery and indigenous handicrafts.
Visit the Cultural Heritage Complex, where you can gain insights into the customs, traditions and way of life of the various communities of Manipur. Explore the village at a relaxed pace, observing traditional houses, local crafts and age-old practices that reflect the region’s vibrant cultural identity. Enjoy a delicious local meal and experience the authentic flavours of Manipuri cuisine before taking some time to appreciate the peaceful surroundings and picturesque countryside. Later, return to Imphal and relax at your hotel. Overnight stay in Imphal.
After breakfast, travel to Ukhrul, a picturesque hill town surrounded by lush forests, rolling hills and tranquil valleys. Known for its rich Tangkhul Naga heritage, natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere, Ukhrul offers an authentic glimpse into the cultural and scenic charm of Manipur. Continue to Shirui Hills, home to the famous and rare Shirui Lily, the state flower of Manipur, which blooms seasonally. Enjoy a leisurely exploration of the hills and take in panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and countryside. You may also visit local tea plantations and experience the serene beauty of the region.
Later, return to Ukhrul for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, check out from the hotel.
